Unemployment (Band)
Unemployment, a genious musical metalcore project (that is 100% TOTALLY REAL, "definitely not AI"), has been rocking harder than anyone else since their beginning. Conceived from the mind of Joe Hanson, lead singer and saxophonist, in Jamaica in 2014. Joe Hanson imagined a metalcore band, except instead of singing, it would only be guttural growls and saxophone solos. Joe gathered his buddies in Jamaica, and at first they were reluctant. Joe Hanson was relentless though, and managed to keep his buddies focused. Jelbert Hubadagan, the lead guitarist, helped Joe Hanson convince his other buddies to join. Jelbert would play solos alone, and with the saxophone. Jelbert also is known for yelling backing vocals during sax parts.
The band, which consisted of Joe Hanson, Jelbert Hubadagan, bassist Fledger Dinkle, drummer Ruth Halmit, and keyboardist Seth Pur, was rocking out their first album by late 2015. Their album was released through Hermit Records, a Jamaican record label. Their debut album was titled 'Unemployed Nation,' with the keystone track being 'I Like Trucks... Or Do I?' In 2017, they released a cover album with sick riffs, especially reimagining children's songs. It was titled 'Rainbow Unicorn Smile Slaughter Dungeon.' It included a cover of Mary had a Little Lamb, Out of Style (Limp Bizkit. They managed to find Limp Bizkit's seecret sheet music stash of unpublished songs), Radio (Rammstein), Two Weeks (All That Remains), Hot Cross Buns, and Shake It Off (Taylor Swift). Everyone of the songs was done humorously (Except Two Weeks, Out of Style). Especially the Taylor Swift cover, which mostly featured poop grunting effects.
Unemployment went on hiatus for 4 years, but they returned in 2021 with new keyboardist Gary Smith and released a brand new 8 track album titled Cult Count in 2022. It was very proggressive, featuring the 23-minute prog-metalcore epic "Class." It was considered an experimental masterpiece by most fans, but the band agreed to never do it again since it was slow and boring. In 2025, Unemployment released a cover of Barbie Girl, with only pig-squeal deathcore vocals and instruments. It was well reviewed. Unemployment set the release date for their next album as March of 2026. The album is going to be titled "Broccoli Propoganda."
